Subject: Re: Arthritis in Alberta
From: Ron Bain, Wildrose Party candidate for Lethbridge-West
Response:
Dear Ms. Koehn:
Thank you for sending your concerns to my attention and helping to bring me up to speed on this important issue. I went on to the survey website but couldn’t find a means to answer it on-line.
The position of Wildrose with respect to Health Care in general is to use a “Patient-Centred” Health Care approach and through consultation with Doctors and Nurses work on finding solutions in order to best address the needs of the patient. This would of course include those dealing with Arthritis. It is always a challenge to provide the same level of support and services to those living in smaller communities and in rural areas and an easy answer is not readily available. Having said that though, governments role is to try and ensure appropriate funding is made available to try and address the needs of all Albertans and ensure we have adequate front line staff and funding to AHS.
I know you were hoping for perhaps a more definitive answer but of course since we are in election mode and not government we don’t have access to all the information we would need in order to have a thorough review of the situation. Hopefully after May 5th, things will change and we can look forward to working with you more closely to arrive at the appropriate solution.
Best regards,
Ron Bain, Lethbridge West Candidate; Wildrose
