Dear Cheryl:

Thank you for contacting me regarding our party’s position on supports for people living with arthritis.

A fifth of all people living in this province are forced to deal with the pain and reduced mobility arthritis causes, and it’s important their government assists and accommodates them.

Scott Moe and the Sask. Party have failed to deliver the relief arthritis patients need. They’ve put Saskatchewan in last place, year after year, for wait times on hip and knee surgeries, and as result people living with arthritis are coping with pain and unable to participate in their own daily lives.

Carla Beck and the Saskatchewan NDP are investing in our healthcare system to hire more doctors and nurses and improve wait times on our critical surgeries. We’re putting together Community Health Advisory Networks so that urban and rural municipalities can speak up about the needs in their own communities. Together, we can get Saskatchewan out of last place.

Thank you for your email on this important issue.

Sincerely,

Lenore Pinder
NDP Candidate for Yorkton

Dear Cheryl

Thank you for your email.

I respond to you as the Rosetown-Delisle Candidate hopefully Oct 28th the Rosetown-Delisle MLA, I also respond as the President of Barrier Free Saskatchewan, I am humbled to learn about health conditions, like arthritis, that I was previously unfamiliar with. The negative impact arthritis has on the lives of Saskatchewan citizens is significant, and I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I will ensure this report card is shared with our Barrier Free Saskatchewan members, as it is a topic we have not yet discussed.

Throughout my time with the Saskatchewan NDP, I have been a strong advocate for identifying barriers and disabilities within our province. I am proud to have initiated a constitutional amendment within the party and to have established the Saskatchewan New Democrat Disability Advocates (SNDDA) Wing to amplify the voices of individuals with disabilities, and arthritis from what you have shared with me is a debilitating disease that brings on barriers in peoples lives.

As an NDP candidate, I wholeheartedly agree that many Saskatchewan residents are waiting too long for medical services. If I am fortunate enough to become the Rosetown-Delisle MLA, you can trust that my compassion—rooted in lived experience and a history of accessing quality healthcare—will drive my commitment to improving health outcomes for all. I want this level of care for my family, friends, neighbors, and fellow Saskatchewanians.

I pledge to advocate for individuals facing barriers, not only due to arthritis but also for all physical challenges. My own experiences with disability have shaped my understanding and commitment to ensuring that everyone deserves the same level of care I expect for myself.

While I may not have a specific plan solely focused on arthritis, I recognize it as a debilitating condition that can lead to significant challenges. Health care is our top priority as Saskatchewan New Democrats, and I will ensure that your voices are heard in future discussions on addressing barriers and ensuring appropriate healthcare access.

Thank you once again for reaching out. I look forward to working together toward a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system. Brenda Edel

Good morning

Thank you for contacting me regarding our party’s position on supports for people living with arthritis.

This is an issue near and dear to me, as I am one of the thousands of people here in Saskatchewan living with rheumatoid arthritis.

Scott Moe and the Sask. Party have failed to deliver the relief arthritis patients need. They’ve put Saskatchewan in last place, year after year, for wait times on hip and knee surgeries, and as result people living with arthritis are coping with pain and unable to participate in their own daily lives.
