St. Paul’s Hospital Howard B. Stein Award recipient announced
Prestigious award bestowed on a Senior Scientist from the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada, ACE’s Scientific Director
Howard B. Stein created the Division of Rheumatology at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia and served as Division Head at St. Paul’s until his myelofibrosis made it impossible for him to continue his work as a rheumatologist. He was an honorary professor, rheumatologist, political advocate and ambassador for world peace. Stein was known as a “Great One” in the rheumatology community. The St. Paul’s Hospital Howard B. Stein Award is bestowed to someone who is a leader in the rheumatology community.
Dr. Paul Man, Head of Medicine at St. Paul’s Hospital has announced that Dr. Kam Shojania has been chosen as this year’s St. Paul’s Hospital Howard B. Stein Award recipient. Along with this prestigious award, Dr. Shojania was also named the UBC Master Teacher Awardee for 2014. Both awards will be presented on Thursday, May 29th from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Medical Student Alumni Centre, 2750 Heather Street (and West 12th Avenue).
“Dr. Shojania is an integral part of making the University of British Columbia a top destination for Rheumatology Fellowship training in Canada and the awards recognize his leadership in Vancouver, across the province and nationally,” says Scientific Director of the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada, Dr. John Esdaile.
Dr. Shojania is the Chair of the Arthritis Consumer Experts’ advisory board. Congratulations Dr. Shojania!
