New: Web Workshop on Children and Arthritis

Our newest JointHealth™ workshop interviews Dr. Lori Tucker about juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). She is a pediatric rheumatologist with the Division of Rheumatology at B.C. Children’s Hospital.

In this web workshop, Dr. Tucker:
  • Discusses the types of arthritis children get
  • Dispels some of the myths about childhood arthritis
  • Explains how JIA is diagnosed and why it is important to treat the disease immediately
  • Lists the medications that are prescribed to treat arthritis in children
  • Describes the transition in care for an adolescent with arthritis entering into adulthood
  • Explains the differences between childhood and adult onset arthritis and the differences in treatment
  • Provides information on how and what resources kids and parents can access to help them cope with JIA
This web workshop will be of interest to parents who have children with arthritis or suspect their child may have arthritis, as well as other family members, friends, family physicians, teachers, and childcare providers.
